Community Connection

Since our launch in 2000, Northern has demonstrated a commitment to engaging with our local neighbourhood. We currently:

  • Provide low cost community lunches Monday through to Thursday for approximately 80 people each day
  • Offer numerous volunteering opportunities
  • Run Compassionate Voices Community Choir and The Matadors a community band
  • Provide social activities including a weekly bingo game, regular family movie nights and our annual Christmas Feasts
  • Partner with Council, local agencies and community groups
  • Offer pastoral support and care to those who visit our community hub each day

Community Lunches

Community lunches are the heart of Northern's connection with our local neighbourhood, providing a safe place for relationship building and care and support. People from all walks of life gather to share a meal and enjoy one another's company.

Our $4 community lunches are available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 12.30pm. If you bring a container a take away meal is often available for $3.

Community Choir & Band

The Compassionate Voices choir meets each Thursday afternoon for rehearsals and performs regularly at community festivals and events. The choir is open to all regardless of singing ability.

The Matadors is an open rock band and rehearses and performs each Wednesday at our community lunch. The band perform a range of hits and welcomes new additions to the group.
