Meet the Team

Our Ministry Team is a motley group with experience in the church, not-for-profit, education, the arts.

  • David Toscano // Ministry Team Leader

David is the newbie at Northern, joining the great team in 2017. For most of the last 20 years, David has been pastoring in a variety of church settings throughout Queensland and was drawn to Northern and is amazing work in and for the community.

A lover of coffee and chaos theory, David moved to Melbourne with his wife Mary and their Weimaraner - Cara, with a desire to continue and develop the transformative work of Northern in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne.

  • Alethea Ashby // Children to Young Families Pastor

For the past 17 years Alethea has been on staff at the Churches of Christ church in which she grew up in Perth, WA, most recently as the Children’s and Youth Pastor. She loves learning so during that time she earnt both a BA in Biblical Studies and a Diploma of Management. Alethea has a passion for seeing people find their purpose in Christ and finds great joy in empowering younger generations to find fulfillment in serving Jesus. In her spare time, she enjoys playing all types of tabletop games, reading, and she is a self-confessed Sci-Fi and Disney nerd.

  • Tamsin Magnay // Careworks Manager

Having grown up in the outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, it is a real treat to be living and working in the Inner North. For a coffee snob like myself there are a plethora of amazing cafes, restaurants and music venues. I just don’t know where to start.

My friends would describe me as enthusiastic, encouraging and a little nerdy. I have been known to hang out at the theological library on my days off, chasing one idea or another. This curious nature has lead me on many adventures including a recent job teaching ballet in India.

I have been connected to Northern Community Church for a few years and am privileged to join the staff in 2016 as Careworks Manager. Everyday throws up new surprises but also opportunities to welcome people into our community who in turn contribute to the ever-changing landscape.
